...a day at the Alaska State Fair

The Alaska State Fair is an event unto itself. Nothing like it as far as I know. Big vegetables, lumberjacks, exciting rides, exotic foods (mostly fried), and painted hair. It's all there.

So, we spent the better part of a Sunday taking it all in. We rode the rides, ate the food, watched the shows, and strolled through the barns. In the end we were tired but we thoroughly enjoyed...a day at the Alaska Sate Fair.

Something tells me something's happening at the Fair. Hey did you see a guy on the bill named Izzy Tuinski? He used to be an annual appearance. When Heather and I was courtin, we caught two of his three shows and If we had seen the first we would have seen all three. Hope the rain god was good to youuns. Getting cooler and wetter here. Starting to feel like August on the Kenai. We did get a first snow up in mountains, but not down here yet. Still waiting to see if the dregs of Gustav make their way over to us. Glad you still hit all of the great spots and share the stories.

Hi Doug,

Nope, we didn't see anyone named Izzy. I would like to see him just to find out if he fits his name!
It rained mercilously on us at Williwaw. Big wind, too. Everything was wet and my raincoat was hanging uselessly in the closet at home. However, we still haven't seen any snow like you guys in Colorado.
Thanks for the comments!
